- Put all new flashcards in Box 1. You review Box 1 every day.
- If you get a card right in Box 1, move it to Box 2. You review Box 2 every 3 days.
- If you get a card right in Box 2, move it to Box 3. You review Box 3 once a week.
- Crucial rule: If you ever get a card wrong, it goes all the way back to Box 1!
Option 2: The Digital System (Anki / Quizlet)
The easiest way to use spaced repetition is to let an algorithm do the math for you. Apps like Anki use spaced repetition algorithms to automatically schedule your flashcards.
All you do is open the app every day, and it feeds you exactly the cards you are about to forget.
Combining Spaced Repetition with Active Recall
Spaced repetition tells you when to study. Active recall tells you how to study.
